Sathya Sai Baba has fostered a unique approach to education called Educare, which draws out divine qualities of truth, right conduct, peace, love, and non-violence which are latent within each child.
Educare aligns the head, heart, and hands (3HV). The basic principle of 3HV is that the hand must perform tasks of the ideas emerging from the head only after consulting with the heart.
The emphasis is to follow the heart or one’s conscience.
True education must, in Sai Baba’s words, “broaden the heart and expand one’s love.”
True education is “that which fosters the sense of oneness, draws out one’s divine qualities, and promotes the blossoming of human personality.” Self-transformation occurs through the practice of developing good human values.
The guiding principles of the term Educare in the context of Sai Education are:
- Divinity is love and it is manifested as the universal human values.
- The purpose of education is for living a more meaningful human and spiritual life.
- The end of education is character, and character manifests itself as the unity of thought, word and deed.
WHAT IS SSE AND WHO IS IT MEANT FOR?
Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) program is based on the concept of Educare and the teachings of Sai Baba. It is designed for children ages 5 to 18 and is offered by Official Sathya Sai Baba Centers all over the world. The aims of SSE are to foster character development and spiritual transformation through helping children to:
- Learn about the life and teachings of Sathya Sai Baba.
- Render selfless service to others
- Appreciate the unity of the different faiths, and
- Practice placing a ceiling on their desires
The five human values – Truth, Right-Conduct, Peace, Love & Non-violence – are drawn out through lessons based on the five teaching techniques: prayers or quotations, silent sitting/tuning-in, songs, stories and group activities.
Stories, songs, and prayers are selected from across cultures, and faiths in order to foster unity of faiths and brotherhood of man.
Through these lessons, the children learn about the importance of respecting their parents, properly discharging their duties at home, being loyal to and taking pride in their , community and country, helping the less fortunate, and showing tolerance and respect for all religions.

WHAT IS SSEHV?
Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSEHV) in the Community are programs designed for children of all faiths and backgrounds and are conducted in schools, community centers, and other locations provided by host organizations. Community SSEHV classes may also accompany some of the medical camps conducted by the Service Wing of the Sathya Sai Organization.
The teachers of SSE & SSEHV receive training from the Education Wing of the Sathya Sai Organization and from Institutes of Sathya Sai Education (ISSEs) respectively.
ARE THERE ANY SSEHV PROGRAMS IN THE DALLAS AREA AT PRESENT?
There is some interest from parents about a Sathya Sai School and another idea is to have a community center where SSEHV activities would be conducted however we are yet to do due diligence in these areas.
