Spiritual Discipline

The Nine Point Code of Conduct

SOULS members are expected to do their best to practice the Nine-Point Code of Conduct as laid down by Sathya Sai Baba to enhance individual’s spiritual awareness and growth.

  1. Practice daily meditation and prayer
  2. Participate in Devotional singing with members of the family once a week.
  3. Participate in Sai Education program for children of the family.
  4. Participate in community work and other programs of the Sai organization.
  5. Attend Center devotional meetings regularly.
  6. Study Sai literature regularly.
  7. Speak softly and lovingly to everyone.
  8. Do not indulge in speaking ill of others, especially in their absence.
  9. Practice ceiling on desires—consciously and continuously striving to eliminate the tendency to waste time, money, food and energy – and utilizing the savings for service of mankind.

Discipline is a pre-requisite to Devotion.

Members observe the following practices

  1. Devotees are requested to dress modestly.
  2. Devotees are requested not to engage in small talk after the meetings, as it dissipates any spiritual benefit one may have received.
  3. Men and women are required to sit separately.
  4. Children are requested to be silent and not disturb others during the meetings & devotional singing. Parents are responsible for the behavior of their children.
